WildForm tracks tigers in India

May 18, 2008

WildForm is being used to record the distribution of tigers throughout the Ranthambhore National Park in India.   Bengal tigers are among some of the most endangered animals in the world with habitat loss and poaching taking a heavy toll on their numbers. Dr Thompson from Oxford Brookes University is hoping to provide devices for a number of Park trackers to make more accurate population estimates for the tigers and their prey items. This data will ultimately be used to monitor the changing fortunes of tigers and their prey items in relation to elevated tourism, agriculture and climate change. WildKnowledge are hoping to visit the Wildlife Institute of India later this year to further develop the project – watch this space for updates!

To find out more about the churchyard, see the following news link or  visit http://www.ssmjchurchyard.org.uk
