WK / National Geographic App
October 12, 2011
WildKnowledge are delighted to announce that they have won funding to make a phone app for National Geographic. WK were amongst the winners of the Future Games Contest which is run by IC Tomorrow, (part of the Technology Strategy Board Programme). The contest encourages digital entrepreneurs to devise games which use digital content from large content providers such as the National Geographic.
National Geographic were looking for a game that raised awareness of the plight of big cats (e.g. lions, leopards) and also linked to their Big Cats Initiative. The Big Cats Initiative is a comprehensive program that supports on-the-ground conservation projects, education, and economic incentive efforts and a global public-awareness campaign. National Geographic have produced documentaries, a feature film and have engaging online information on this topic but they do not have a game!
WK's winning pitch turns the participant into an intrepid conservationist who must visit the cat populations around the world and devise the best solutions to the problems these cats face. Watch this space for more details!
